becasue we cannot hold in person general member meetings to allow our community to get to know each candidate, we will be publishing candidate information to our social media platforms that will be taken from your application. the information that will be shared about each candidate will be their, name, pronouns, photo, major, year, QA affiliation, position they are running for, their candidate statement, and their platform(s).
if you are not out, or are uncomfortable or unsafe with your name and photo being published please indicate this in the application. this in no way will affect you eligibility to run. if you do not want your name published we we instead use candidate identifiers, which will be a triad of letters EX: "candidate NNN". and if you don't have a photo you would like to be shared we will instead share an "anonymous image" that does not have your or another persons likeness. (think blank profile image)
Queer Alliance will be responsible for publishing this information to reach our community. please do not publicize your candidacy prior to Queer Alliance releases candidates on May 31. we are using this format to hold space for folx who are overwhelmed, beyond capacity, or unable to be active in QT spaces due to pandemic and extenuating circumstances, and acknowledging that we want to release candidacy all at once to give people as equitable of a running opportunity as possible.
with this information our community will vote using the runoff style which is detailed in the Ad Hoc elections document. those who are elected will work with the outgoing board to transition into their responsibilities, and will be completely in charge of QA starting June 12th.
